Yukon Quest 2009 started yesterday, followed by the YQ 300 at 21:30 pm. All mushers from the 1000 mile race made it already to the first checkpoint in Braeburn, 100 miles (160km) distant from the start in Whitehorse, and some are already on their way to Carmacks.
Among the mushers there is Mike Ellis (http://www.teamtsuga.com/) with his siberian huskies, and he is driving so far on a respectable 10th place! Some of his team members are relatives to our Nitro (Jim is Nitro´s uncle).
In the 300 mile race (480km) Karen has bib nr.3 and Mark nr.6, and they are both on their way to Braeburn (the first checkpoint). They both drive 12 dogs each.
In Mark´s team, there are our Canuck´s brothers Wolvie and Flash, and sisters Wonder and Isis, running! Go guys, go!! :)
