Ode to the Snow

This is an Ode to the Snow. And to the Dogs. And Sledding. And a definite good bye to the 2010/11 Mushing Season.

While these pictures were taken during our epic white hell run, we actually had no idea then, that they will also become the pictures of our last sledding trip of the season.

Enjoy them. Carefully, slowly, like a precious candy that melts in your mouth too fast to your liking. It will be long before the next ones.

I´ll miss the togetherness with the main string team, the bond we created, while crossing the country with two teams almost every single day.

I´ll miss the perfect lineup of 12 of my best friends infront of me, their silent focuss and the swishing sound of sled runners.

I´ll miss the thrills and challenges of the trail.

and the dramatic skies.

And the sunshine and long shadows on the snow.

The little cabins and little lakes, accessable only by dog sled.

The snackbreaks, when the dogs would look back to check with me if all was ok.

The afternoon sunsets

And the thrill of trying out new leading talents.

The perfectly groomed snowmachine trails and the blown over plaines.

I´ll miss it all, but I bet it´ll be back before we know it!

-- Till next year, ode to the snow!

Very nice! I feel the same way Katerina. We just have to remember that more of the "precious candy" will be back in a few short months. In the meantime, time to bond with the dogs in other ways :)
